Lady Cats out slug Franklin County for District Win

As heard on 93.9 The Duck’s Tennessee Homes Spring Showcase, Katelyn Gattis’ five RBI night night led the charge for Tullahoma outslugged district rival Franklin County 20-10 at home Tuesday Night.

In a game featuring offense from the start the Rebelettes opened the game plating four runs in the top of the first including a two-run homer from Alyssa Sherrill. The Lady Cats wasted no time fight right back sending 12 to the plate and putting nine on the board in the bottom of the frame to take a lead which they wouldn’t relinquish. Gattis was the highlight of the barge as she launched a two-run home run in her first at bat of the inning and following up with an RBI single in her second plate appearance of the first.

Franklin County trimmed the lead to two in the second thanks to a two run double from Raelyn Wainwright and an RBi single from Jocylin DeSmit but that’s as close as Franklin County would come the rest of the evening.

Tullahoma added six more runs in the sixth as Addie Norman, Ellie Simpson and Miaha Johnson each recorded RBI Singles. Gattis and Sara Tate added three more runs via sacrifice flies.

The Rebeletes plated three more runs in the fourth and fifth as DeSmit his a two run home run in the frouth and Emma Owens added an RBi single in the fifth.

Tullahoma ended the game in the fifth with four more runs thanks to RBI singles from Madi Goad and Maggie Lynch and a pair of Franklin County errors to invoke the run rule.

Amaya Sharp picked up the win for the Lady Cats scattering 11 hits and 10 runs (three earned) 1 walk and 1 strike out across 5 innings to improve to 3-2 on the year.

Kaylee Morris took to loss for Franklin County surrendering 20 runs (18 earned) on 22 hits and 6 walks.

Tullahoma, who improved to 3-2 on the season, tallied 20 runs on 22 hits and committed 3 errors.

Franklin County, who drooped to 0-8, plated 10 runs on 11 hits and also committed 3 errors.

Gattis’ performance at the plate earned her Tennessee Homes Player of the Game honors.

The Lady Cats host Cascade today at 5:30. The Rebelettes host Central Magnet in another district matchup at 5:30.

Tullahoma baseball will be featured on the Tennessee Homes Spring Showcase for the first time in 2024 on Monday at 6:00  when they open district play vs Franklin County.  The next Lady Cat softball broadcast is set for April 4th vs Giles County.
