Wildcats Walk Off Golden Eagles in Tuesday Night Thriller

Cade Fanning was the hero as Tullahoma baseball topped Shelbyville 5-4 in an extra inning thriller Tuesday at Grider Stadium, Mathis Field in Tullahoma. 

Evan Tomlin opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first. The Cats added two more in the home half of the second thanks to a Golden Eagle error. 

Shelbyville plated four in the top of the 7th on a triple, a pair of singles and a ground out to force the extra frame. 

After holding the Golden Eagles scoreless in the top of the 8th three Wildcat walks set the stage for Fanning walked it off in the bottom of the inning with an RBI Single. 

Mason Bratcher picked up the win in relief surrendering two runs and three hits in two innings of work. Baylan Tuten got the start for Tullahoma allowing two runs on three hits across six innings. 

William Bobo took the loss for Shelbyville. He walked three and gave up the go ahead run and one hit an a third of an inning out of the pen. Palmer Edwards got the start for the Golden Eagles going six innings and surrendering four runs (one earned) on four hits striking out seven and walking one. 

Tullahoma, who is now 6-2 on the season,  plated five runs on just four hits but took advantage of four walks and four errors from the Golden Eagles. 

Shelbyville, who drops to 2-5 on the year, managed four runs on six hits. The Cats only walked two and committed just one error. 

Tullahoma next host Cookeville Saturday at 4:00. Shelbyville hosts Forrest Thursday at 6:00, you can hear that game on WHMT 105.1 and 95.9 as a part of the Newton Chevrolet-GMC Spring Showcase. 

The Wildcats will be featured on the Tennessee Homes Spring Showcase for the first time in 2024 on Monday at 6:00  when they open district play vs Franklin County.  The next Tullahoma softball broadcast is set for April 4th vs Giles County.

Will is a Middle Tennessee native having been born and raised in Winchester. His love of radio began as a child listening to local stations on the way to school or while falling asleep at night. After High School, where he was active in student media, he attended the University of Tennessee majoring in Journalism and Electronic Media while covering sports for the campus radio station. He then moved into the business professionally as a board op/producer for Cumulus of Knoxville and the Vol Network. His radio journey then took him to Louisiana where he was the lead producer for ESPN New Orleans. After returning home to Winchester, he spent several years broadcasting local sports for stations in Franklin County before joining the Bowman Family. When he’s not at the station, Will enjoys spending time with his wife Shaina and his two fur babies (Toulouse and Belle), cheering on the Vols, Preds and Saints and in the kitchen or behind the grill trying out new recipes.
