Savannah Cooper had a big night at the plate for the Coffee County Lady Raiders on Monday night at Terry Floyd Field. The junior shortstop drove in four runs on three hits, including a two-run homer. The Lady Raiders avenged Sunday’s loss to Lincoln County by beating the Lady Falcons 10-2.
It was Senior Night for Coffee County, and senior Kara Wheeler had a nice night. She went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and scored one run. Senior first baseman Willow Carden had two hits and scored twice. Senior second baseman Riley Phillips added two hits and a run. Right fielder Madison Pruitt made two run-saving catches to help on defense for the Lady Raiders.
Lily Norman pitched all seven innings, allowing one earned run and walking two batters. The sophomore had five strikeouts.
Mia Brown was a highlight for the Lady Falcons, going 2-for-2 with a home run. Hallie Meeks suffered the loss in the circle.
Coffee County improved to 15-9 overall and 7-1 in District 9-AAAA play. Lincoln County dropped to 22-10 and 7-1.
The Lady Raiders play again on Tuesday and Wednesday at Columbia and Shelbyville on the road to finish up regular-season district competition.
