Man Found Guilty of Murder in Bedford County

In March of 2022, TBI agents joined Bedford County deputies in investigating a homicide after 32-year-old Sarah Angelina Johnson was found deceased in a home in the 31-hundred block of Sims Road. During the investigation, agents and detectives identified Raymond Smith as the alleged individual responsible for Sarah Johnson’s death.

Now, two years later, Raymond Antonio Smith, 47, of Shelbyville, has been found guilty of first-degree murder.

A Bedford County jury also found him guilty of theft of property (stealing the Sims Road homeowner’s vehicle, valued at $2,500). Sentencing for Smith will be held June 17.
