Most Unemployment Rates Fall in Tennessee Counties

Unemployment rates in a vast majority of Tennessee’s 95 counties continued to drop in June, according to new data from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Seventy-four counties had lower jobless rates for the month, but Unemployment did increase slightly in 17 counties during the month and remained the same in four counties.

Williamson County recorded the lowest unemployment rate in June at 6.7%. Shelby County had the state’s highest rate of unemployment in June at 13.2%. Grundy County was just below Shelby County at 13.1%.

In Coffee County the unemployment rate for June was 10.5%, falling from the May rate of 13.6.

Bedford County fell from 13.5% to 10.5.

Cannon County’s unemployment rate for May was 11.9% and dropped to 9% in June.

Franklin County was 13.9 in May and 10.2 in June.

Lincoln County fell slightly from 11.4% to 10.8.

Moore County’s unemployment rate in May was 9%, but dropped to 7.7 in June

Despite many cases of Covid-19 being reported in Rutherford County, their rate fell to 10.8 from 12.3.

Warren County’s unemployment rate dropped from 17 percent in May to 12.7 percent in June.
