On Saturday afternoon, Manchester Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on the Hillsboro Highway near McDonald’s.
Following the initial investigation, Adam E. Lucas was taken into custody. Lucas was involved in the accident, and then, according to the arrest warrant issued to Sgt. Benton Brown, with Manchester Police, Lucas physically assaulted a bystander. He apparently chased the victim, took that person to the ground, and struck them multiple times. During the alleged assault, Lucas allegedly removed all of his clothing. He was exposing himself to various adults and children in the area.
After Lucas left the scene, Manchester Police located him in a neighboring parking lot. Lucas was identified as the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the accident.
According to warrants, Manchester Police officers reported they smelled a strong odor of intoxicants coming from Lucas. The man denied consent for a blood draw, and a search warrant was issued.
Lucas was charged with DUI, Violation of implied consent law, public indecency, and decent exposure, leaving the scene of an accident, assault, assault against a first responder or nurse for spitting on that person while others were attempting to execute a search warrant for a blood draw.
