Smyrna Volleyball has Both Legs Amputated after being Hit by Car

A Tennessee teenager had both legs amputated after she was hit by a car Saturday night in downtown St. Louis, KMOV reports.

Janae Edmondson was in Missouri for a volleyball tournament when the tragedy occurred.

Edmondson was hit by the car after the driver ran a yield sign at an intersection and hit another vehicle, according to St. Louis police. Police believe the driver was going 20 mph above the speed limit when the crash happened.

Police arrested 21-year-old Daniel Riley for three counts of assault, armed criminal action, and operating a vehicle without a valid license.

Edmondson, a senior three-sport athlete at Smyrna High School, had just committed to playing college volleyball next year.

A GoFundMe has been set up for Edmondson. You can donate here.
