
A powerful thunderstorm ripped its way through southern middle Tennessee late Sunday afternoon. The storm uprooted trees that tore down electric lines and did damage to several homes, businesses, and other types of buildings.
The severe storm left a total of 19,000 Duck River Electric Membership members without electricity from Columbia to Manchester to Sewanee.
High winds damaged trees and power lines, breaking poles, and damaging equipment along its path.
Employees continued working across the service area restoring power all day Monday.
The Tullahoma Utilities Authority worked throughout the night to restore power to most of their customers.
