Tracy City man facing Drug and Theft Charges

Johnny Williams Stephens Jr, a 35-year-old Tracy City man, has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of possession of a schedule II substance, and theft of property.

On March 16, Decherd police investigations were working on a case concerning stolen property that was reported from Grundy County.

Decherd police received information that a stolen vehicle out of Grundy County was being sold on Facebook Marketplace. Police discovered that some stolen property was scheduled to be sold in the parking lot at the Kroger store in Decherd.

Stephens stated he was carrying narcotics and was found to have about 4 grams of what is believed to be methamphetamine. Stephens claimed all stolen property, drugs, and drug paraphernalia and stated the subject that was there to buy some of the items did not know the items were stolen.

Stephens was released on bond and is scheduled for a court date in Franklin County on May 11.
