Coffee County’s Lady Raiders continued to play in the Warrior Classic on Friday and Saturday.
In game one on Friday, they defeated Huntsville 6-4 to improve their overall record to 6-0.
Lily Norman had a hit and 3 RBI, and Willow Carden added two hits and 2 RBI. Norman was also the winning pitcher.
Next up, the Lady Raiders took on Gibbs and suffered their first loss of the season, 4-1.
Coffee County managed only three hits in the game: one each by Carden, Savannah Cooper, and Jalyn Moran.
On Saturday morning, the Lady Raiders fell to DeKalb County. Coffee County was down 8-2 in the fourth inning before coming back to close the gap, but the Tigerettes held on for the 8-6 win.
Ella Arnold had a great day at the plate, going 3-for-3 and scoring a run. Madison Pruitt had a hit and 2 RBI, and Channah Gannon had two hits.
The Lady Raiders will play in a tournament in Gulf Shores, AL, this week during spring break.
In high school baseball, the Coffee County Red Raiders took on Cleveland on Saturday, and the Blue Raiders won the game 14-4.
Cole Pippenger had two hits, including a triple, two runs, and an RBI. Nate Rutledge added two hits, and he knocked in two runs.
Next, the Red Raiders defeated Walker Valley 6-4. They were up 6-0 and held on for the win, improving their record to 4-6.
Colter Neel had two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI, and Bird Fellers had a hit and two RBI.
Isaiah Deadman earned the win for Coffee County, going four innings, allowing only two hits and no runs, and striking out two batters. Trey Turner picked up the save.
The Red Raiders travel to Warren County to open up district play on Monday and host the Pioneers on Tuesday. Rooster 101.5 will provide coverage of Tuesday’s game. Both games are set to begin at 6:30 PM.
