Westwood Middle School Rocket boys’ soccer is off to a fast start in the regular season. They stand at 4-0-0 on the season.
In their first match on the pitch, the boys from Manchester beat Murfreesboro Oakland 4-0. The Rockets followed that with a 3-0 victory over Shelbyville’s Harris Middle. It was a good match-up. Harris gained some possessions and threatened with a few corner kicks, but there were no hard shots on goal.
Westwood’s first conference match against Cascade was up next. The Rockets dominated in the 7-0 win. Michael Vireras scored twice, and Rogelio Ramirez, Erick Moncayo, Alex Aviles, John Martinez, and Aaron Jaimes each scored one goal. Westwood was so dominant in that match that Cascade could not gain possession on the Rockets’ side of the field.
On Monday night, 3-18-24, the weather was cold, but Westwood was red-hot in another conference match, this time against Liberty. The Rockets cruised to a 9-0 mercy-rule win. Alex Aviles, Joel Paxton, and Roligeo Ramirez scored two goals each. Westwood got single goals from Micheal Vieras, Greyson Goff, and Bryce Spencer. Liberty was able to get near Westwood’s goal, but the Rockets were able to shut down any attempt.
Westwood will travel to Community Middle in Bedford County on Wednesday afternoon, with kickoff scheduled for 5:30 PM.
