The fifth ranked Tullahoma Wildcats rallied Tuesday night to top Marshall County 4-1 and claim the District 8-3A regular season championship for the second year in a row.
The Cats fell in an early hole after Kel Hightower drew a walk, took second on an error on a pick off attempt, stole third and scored on a second error trying to thow Hightower out at third.
That lead held until the third when Philip Lemon reached on a walk, advanced to second on an Andrew Fuilmer single and the scored on an error at first on a double play attempt.
The Cats took the lead in the next frame as Evan Tomlin led off the fourth with a single, stole second and scored on an RBI double by Colton Emory to make it 2-1 Tullahoma. Emory would add to the lead two batters later as Lemon brought him home with RBI single to make it 3-1 Wildcats.
Tullahoma added a little insurance in the sixth as Tomlin scored for the second time in the game after reaching with his second single of the night and stealing his second base of the contest. Mason Bratcher bought him in with an RBI single to make it 4-1 Cats. Tomlin finished the night 2-3 with a pair of stolen bags and two runs scored and was named the Tennessee Homes/93.9 The Duck Player of the Game.
Bratcher who was excellent in relief then struck out two in the top of the seventh to close out the game and pick up the win. Bratcher pitched four scorless innings allowing just one hit, striking out 7 and walking three.
Tullahoma who improved to 23-6 on the season and 8-1 in 8-3A competition closes out the district schedule on Thursday night when they travel to Winchester to make up the series finale with Franklin County that was rained out in March.
