Coffee County baseball dominates LaVergne

Coffee County Red Raiders defeated LaVergne 12-0 on Monday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Mays Snipes induced a groundout from Brian Cruz to finish off the game. 

Jacob Holder led Coffee County Red Raiders to victory by driving in four runs. Holder went 2-for-4 at the plate. Holder drove in runs on a single in the fifth and a home run in the fifth. 

Coffee County Red Raiders tallied 11 runs in the fifth inning. Coffee County’s offense in the inning came from singles by Holder and Wyatt Nugent, doubles by Nolan Jernigan and Brady Nugent, a home run by Holder, and an error on a ball put in play by Braden Brown. 

A single by Jesus in the fifth inning was a positive for LaVergne. 

Snipes pitched the Red Raiders to victory. The righthander lasted three innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out four. Jacob Sherrill threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. 

Ashton Keele took the loss for LaVergne. The hurler went four innings, allowing one run on one hit. 

Lane Spry started the game for Coffee County. The pitcher lasted one inning, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out three and walking zero 

Coffee County Red Raiders smacked one home run on the day. Holder went yard in the fifth inning. 

Holder went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Red Raiders in hits. Coffee County didn’t commit a single error in the field. Spry had the most chances in the field with six. 

Jesus led LaVergne with one hit in one at bats.
