It was a difficult day for the Coffee County Lady Raiders basketball team, as they lost 55-35 to Bradley Central in the TSSAA Class-AAAA semifinals.
Even though the game didn’t go the way they wanted, the Lady Raiders still have a lot to celebrate. They won their seventh straight district championship and their first region title since 1972. Coffee County also had an incredible 34 wins this season. With all that success, another strong point is that every player will return, as the Lady Raiders had no seniors on the team that had the best season since the 1993 state championship.
On Friday, Freshman Jules Ferrell led the team in scoring with 10 points and was named the Dr Jay Trussler/Rooster 101.5 Player of the Game. Channah Gannon finished with 8 points, followed by Natalie Barnes with 7, Olivia Vinson had 4, and Audri Patton and Ella Arnold completed the game with 3 points each.
Another local team will play for the Class-A championship. The Moore County (27-8) ladies defeated Greenfield 38-28. They’ll take on Wayne County at 3:30 on Saturday afternoon at MTSU for the title.
Elle Graham led Moore County with 16 points, and Madison Dingler scored 13.
