
It was Keri Munn’s night on Monday as she and her Coffee County Lady Raider teammates wrapped up the regular season District 8-AAA championship with an 8-2 win over Lincoln County. Munn was 3 for 3 at the plate with a single, homer and double. She scored once and 4 RBI. The senior pitcher just five hits and two runs over seven innings and she struck out ten.
Coffee County got things going in a big way in the third inning with Madison Pruitt at 3rd and Olivia Evans at 2nd. A pitch got past the Lincoln County catcher scoring Pruitt. When Kelsey Posey attempted to throw the ball back to Pitcher Bre Haislip who was covering home the ball hit Pruitt and bounded away allowing Evans to score.
Now up 2-0, Chesnie Cox reaches on a walk and Justus Turner gets aboard on a fielder’s choice. Up to bat came Keri Munn and she blasted a 3-run homer to centerfield to make it 5-0 Lady Raiders.
In the 5th Munn doubled to score Alivia Reel to give Coffee County a 6-0 lead.
In the top of the 6th the Lady Falcons cut the lead to 4 as Hallie Meeks hit a 2-run homer the left.
The Lady Raiders bounced back in the bottom half of the inning as Emily Schuster scored on a passed ball and later Evans scored on a fielder’s choice. The 2 runs gave Coffee County an 8-2 advantage.
In the 7th Munn struck out her 9th and 10th batters to close out her 17th win of the year against only one defeat. She was named the Crazy Daisies player of the game.
The Lady Raiders improved to 23-4-1 overall and 11-0 in district play. Coffee County will host Lawrence County for Senior Night on Wednesday night at 6pm. Rooster 101.5 FM will broadcast the important baseball matchup between the Red Raiders and Shelbyville at 6pm on Wednesday with live updates from the softball game.
