Grundy County Sheriff Speaks before Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission

Grundy County Sheriff Heath Gunter spoke on Friday before the Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission. Gunter said he was embarrassed after hearing POST’s findings and allegations of violations at his office. He updated the commission that all Grundy County SROs are certified officers.

Chief Deputy Brandon King is back on the job after being suspended for allegedly interfering in the arrest of a relative. He was reinstated after a state investigation revealed he didn’t commit any criminal acts.

The commission voted to give Gunter 30 days to make progress on the violations outlined in their investigation.

They also printed and handed Gunter a list of all the necessary changes.
