One Charged after Alleged Drug Transaction turns into Pursuit

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office received information from a neighboring agency that a drug transaction could occur at Walmart in Winchester on Thursday, August 17th, at approximately 7:40 PM. The suspect vehicle fled from the stop, and a pursuit began after the investigator shot a tire in an attempt to disable the Lexus sedan. The pursuit ended on Henley Lane in Decherd, with a male and female fleeing on foot. A search continued until midnight with no arrests.

The investigator with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver of the vehicle as Daniel Dwayne Holt, 37 years old, from Hillsboro, and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department arrested him on Friday. It was later discovered that Holt was not driving the vehicle, and the warrants in Franklin County have been recalled. He remains in custody for other warrants in Coffee County.

Also, on Friday, Franklin County officials arrested the passenger, Alicia Nicolee Avans. She is facing multiple charges.

The vehicle that was pursued Thursday night was reported as a breach of trust vehicle on Thursday in Coffee County. The owner of the vehicle identified Avans and Frederick Clinton Williams as being in possession of the vehicle at the time of the report.
