Police Standoff with Tullahoma Man Ends Without Injuries

50-year-old Craig Cornelison is facing multiple charges after a three-hour standoff with police at a Tullahoma apartment complex Thursday afternoon.

District Attorney Craig Northcott told On Target News that Cornelison had a disagreement with a family member inside the apartment. He had a pistol and fired it into the ceiling. The situation then escalated and went outdoors.

Tullahoma Police and Coffee County deputies arrived on the scene. Later Sheriff Chad Partin came to the location along with DA investigators and Northcott.

During the negotiation, Northcott said the man fired a round into the air, positioned the firearm toward his head, and pointed the gun at Sheriff Partin during the episode. He said officers showed outstanding professionalism and did not fire their weapons while negotiating with the man.

Cornelison finally gave up and was taken to a mental crisis facility for evaluation. He is facing multiple aggravated assault charges. No injuries were reported.
