Coffee County hosted Franklin County in a boys’ basketball on Tuesday night. The Lady Raiders had the night off.
The Rebels held a 15-12 lead after the first quarter, but the Red Raiders came out the second, hitting on all cylinders. Coffee County outscored Franklin County 22-8 to take a 34-23 advantage into the dressing room at halftime. The Rebels battled back to tie the game after three quarters, 42-42. The Raiders played solid defense, and Cooper Reed led his team down the stretch for a 57-50 non-district win.
Reed, The Rooster 101.5 Player of the Game, scored 22 points to lead all scorers. Jack Shemwell and Brady Wright had 9 points each. Jayden Carter added 6, followed by Cayden Trail with 5, Courtland Farrar chipped in with 4, and Canden Hunt added 2 points to complete the scoring for Coffee County.
Kenyon “Bubba” Fuqua led Franklin County with 20 points, and Kai Baker had points as the duo led the Rebels, who fell to 2-6 on the season.
The Red Raiders (3-4) and Lady Raiders (8-1) will be in action on Friday as they travel to Murfreesboro for their second matchup against the Blackman Blaze this season.
