Coffee County hosted Oakland in high school basketball action on Tuesday night in Manchester.
The Lady Raiders moved to 5-0 on the season after they blew past the Lady Patriots 61-26.
Four Coffee County players hit double figures, led by Rooster 101.5 Player of the Game Natalie Barnes with 17 points. Olivia Vinson and Jules Ferrell added 13, and Channah Gannon finished the night with 11 points.
The Lady Raiders will be on the road for the Bradley Central Thanksgiving Classic on Friday and Saturday. On Friday at 3:30 pm, they face McMinn Central, and on Saturday at noon, the Coffee County ladies take on last season’s Class 4A state champions, Bradley Central.
On Tuesday, November 28, both Raider teams will host Blackman at “The Patch,” you can hear both games on The Rooster 101.5, www.rooster1015.com, or the Rooster 101.5 app.
In the boys’ game on Tuesday, Oakland jumped to a 24-7 lead over the Raiders after the first quarter, and the Patriots held a 34-22 advantage at halftime. Oakland upped their lead at the end of the third, 46-32.
Coffee County’s one-two scoring punch of Cooper Reed and Rooster 101.5 Player of the Game Jackson Shemwell made a tremendous run on the Patriots as they cut the lead to four in the quarter but fell by eight, 64-56. Reed finished with 19, and Shemwell led the Raiders with 21 points.
The loss puts Coffee County at 2-2 on the season as they take a break until the matchup with the Blackman Blaze.
