Red Raider Baseball Opens District Play with Road Win

On Monday night in McMinnville, the Coffee County Red Raiders baseball team opened its 2024 District 9-AAAA season against the Warren County Pioneers.

Warren County held a 1-0 lead after 3 innings and then the Red Raider bats got going. Coffee County ended the night with 11 hits and picked up a 6-4 win.

Nate Rutledge and Brady Daugherty had 3 hits each. Brendon Sheppard had a double and 2 RBI to help the Raiders improve to 5-6 overall and 1-0 in district play. Warren County dropped to 5-4/0-1.

Timothy Henderso was the winning pitcher as he went 6.1 innings, allowing 5 hits, only 2 earned runs, and he struck out 8 Pioneer batters. Cole Pippenger got the final two hitters to pick up the save.

The teams are scheduled to play again in Manchester at Powers Field on Tuesday, weather permitting. You can hear the action beginning at 6:20 PM on The Rooster 101.5, www.rooster1015, or the Rooster 101.5 app.
