Evan Tomlin struck out 10 and tossed a complete game two hit shutout as the Tullahoma Wildcats opened district play with a 3-0 win over Franklin County.
After a three up three down top of the first the Wildcats got on the board first as Andrew Fulmer and Tomlin singled. Fulmer then scored on a passed ball and error that also moved Tomlin to third. Tomlin came home a couple pitches later on another passed ball to give Tullahoma a 2-0 advantage.
The Rebels molunted their best threat in the top of the second loading the bases thanks to a Grasen Mcneese double, a walk and a hit batter. However the Cats turned a 1-2-3 double play to end the threat.
Tullahoma added insurance in the sixth after a leadoff walk by Baylen Tuten who advanced to third on a wild pitch and an RBi single from Mason Bratcher. Tolmin then closed the game striking out Jacob Hardison and Talon Abraham and popping up Sam Vincent to secure the win.
For his efforts on the mound and at the plate Tomlin earned Tennessee Homes player of the Game honors.
The series finale between the Wildcats and Rebels has been postponed until Thursday at 6:00 in Winchester due to rain.
