We reported last month that a Tullahoma High School student was suing his school. The student was suspended for posting memes of his principal on Instagram, and he said that the suspension violated his First Amendment right. The student wanted his record cleared, and this week his law team reported the student’s suspension had been removed.
Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE), a First Amendment advocacy group, reports that the school has altered its social media policies in the suit.
As the case continues, the student seeks to permanently lift the policies and obtain monetary damages for violating the student’s First Amendment rights.
Tullahoma Schools Communications Specialist Zach Birdsong said the district “does not comment on pending litigation.
