Weekend Baseball/Softball Roundup

The Coffee County softball team topped Tullahoma 11-2 Sunday in the first meeting of the season between cross county and former district rivals.

The Lady Raiders jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning highlighted by a Cheyenne Vickers two run home run to left.

Coffee County added on 7 more in the 4th sending 11 batters to the plate to push the lead to 10-0. Tullahoma would get a run on the board in the 4th and the 6th (each scored by Kylee holt) to avoid the run rule but were otherwise stymied offensively.

Kaitlyn Davis who got the start for the Lady Raiders struck out 8 lady Cats and held them to just one run. She was also 2-4 with 2 RBI at the plate to earn player of the game honor from Coffee County. Holt who was 2-3 with 2 runs scored was named the Tullahoma player of the game.

The victory capped off a 5 game weekend for the Lady Raiders who went 2-2 Saturday in the Cookville Spring Kickoff. Coffee County defeated Knox Halls 5-0 and Central Magnet 4-1. They fell to Tolono Unity 3-0 and Knox Powell 3-1.
