The Coffee County Red Raider boys’ basketball team fresh off its magical run last season that ended in the state tournament got the 2022-23 season underway on Thursday. The Raiders hosted Chattanooga’s Boys Buchanan Buccaneers.
Coffee County were player without their only returning full-time starter Dayne Crosslin, who has a mild injury and should be back in action soon.
The Raiders fell behind by 12 after the first quarter, but could never grab the lead away from the Bucs, falling 56-42.
Cooper Reed was named the Rooster 101.5 Player of the Game led Coffee County with 18 followed by Jackson Shemwell who added 11.
Coffee County basketball with host a Playday on Saturday. Girl’s games start at 10 a.m. at Coffee County Middle School and boys’ games start at 10 a.m. at Coffee County High School.
