Coffee County Softball Defeats Tullahoma on St Patrick’s Day

On Sunday afternoon, St Patrick’s Day, the Tullahoma Lady Cats hosted the Coffee County Lady Raiders in a non-district softball game.

Coffee County scored 8 runs in the 5th inning to push the game into the run-rule advantage. The Lady Raiders moved to 3-0 on the season with a 20-6 win in 5 innings over the 2-1 Lady Cats.

The Lady Raiders managed 14 hits to Tullahoma’s 12, but the Lady Cats issued 11 walks and hit one batter that made the biggest difference in the game.

Twenty-one players had a plate appearance for Coffee County. Willow Carden, Savannah Cooper, Lily Norman, and Channah Gannon all had two hits each. Chesnie Cox, Yeidy Cruz, Kara Wheeler, Maggie Montgomery, Jalan Moran and Kendall McCreery had one hit a piece. Carden and Cox had 3 RBI each, and Montgomery and Kaitlyn Anderson added 2 each. Wheeler scored 3 runs to lead the Lady Raiders in that category. Carden, Riley Phillips, Taylor McBride, and Cooper all scored twice.

Willow Carden was named the Dr Jay Trussler/Coffee County Player of the Game.

Brinley Gilliam led the Tullahoma Lady Cats with 3 hits. Maddie Goad and Kaitlyn Gattis added two hits each. Goad also scored two of Tullahoma’s 6 runs. Taylor Brinkley led the Lady Cats in RBI with 2.

Brinley Gilliam was named the Tennessee Homes/93.9 The Duck Tullahoma Player of the Game.

Coffee County’s home game against Lincoln County on Monday has been postponed until April 3. At the time of this story’s publication, Tullahoma Head Coach Gary Barfield told On Target Sports that the Lady Cats game at Lawrence County would still take place.
