Coffee County Wins Doubleheader for Baseball District Championship

In game one of a possible two for the District 6-4A baseball championship Coffee County held on late for a 6-5 win over Franklin County to force game two.

Jayden (Bird) Fellers was credited with the victory for the Red Raiders. Fellers allowed six hits and five runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out six.  Cole Bryce threw one-third of an inning in relief for the save. 

Josh Stoltzfus took the loss for the Rebels. Stoltzfus surrendered five runs on four hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four.

Jacob Holder led Coffee County with two hits, three runs and 2 RBI.

McKeon Whitsett went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Franklin County.

In game two, it was all about offense. Coffee County exploded with 19 hits and 18 runs to win the District 6-4A Championship, 18-8 over Franklin County.

Cole Pippenger, Caleb Moran, Holder, Aiden Robertson and Jacob Sherrill all had three hits a piece for the Raiders. Pippenger had a homerun, Sherrill knocked in 5 runs and Holder had 4 RBI.

Because of the run-rule the game ended after 5 innings. Sherrill got the win as he pitched the first 3 innings.

Mckeon Whitsett for 2-for-3 with three RBI for the Rebels.

Both teams will move onto region play on Monday. Coffee County will host Bradley Central and Franklin County will travel to Walker Valley.
