According to the Tullahoma Police Department, two people were arrested after their malnourished 4-month-old baby died in Tullahoma this week.
On Tuesday (March 12), police and Coffee County EMS responded to a home at 1407 E. Grundy St. after receiving a call about an unresponsive infant.
The baby was taken to Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
According to Tullahoma Police, a medical assessment was performed on the baby, and it was determined the child was reported to be extremely malnourished. The infant was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville for an autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.
On Wednesday, following further investigation by investigators with the Tullahoma Police Department, the baby’s parents, 26-year-old Delores Thomas and Taumize Ransom, were arrested. They are charged with First-Degree Murder and Aggravated Child Abuse or Neglect.
