Parents of Eight Children headed to Prison for Rape of a Child, Aggravated Child Abuse and more

On Tuesday night, Sept. 17, 2019, Andrea Lynn Arthur, 31 at the time, and Alonso Dewite Maxin, 35 at the time, were arrested by Coffee County deputies for various charges involving children.

Investigators located eight children at a trailer park on Riddle Rd after a welfare check on Aug. 20, 2019. The caller advised police that a small female child was running around the park, going through trash cans for food and water.

The children were living in deplorable conditions. On Target News has chosen not to list the terrible condition sheriff’s department investigators found the inside the home.

The children told investigators that they got locked in the bedroom at night and got into trouble. 

On Wednesday in Coffee County Court, Maxin pleaded guilty to child abuse and one count of Rape of a Child and received 40 years in prison to be served at 100 percent.

Arthur pleaded guilty to one count each of Aggravated Child Abuse and Aggravated Child Neglect. She will serve 15 years at 100 percent.

District Attorney Craig Northcott said the children were placed in a home and are doing well. Assistant D.A. Jason was the lead prosecutor.
