The bats were red hot for Coffee County baseball on Tuesday afternoon, as they defeated LaVergne at Riverdale High School 12-2 in 5 innings in a game you heard on The Rooster 101.5.
The Raiders had 10 hits, including 5 for extra bases. Nate Rutledge had 3 singles, 3 stolen bases, 2 RBI, and scored 3 times. Dr Jay Trussler/Rooster 101.5 Player of the Game Cole Pippenger was 2 for 2 that included a 3-run homer. He had 4 RBI and scored twice. Blake Hillis added 2 hits, including a triple, an RBI and he scored once. Trey Turner contributed 2 hits with a triple, a stolen base and he scored twice. Brendon Sheppard and Colter Neel added doubles. The Running Raiders finished the game with 6 stolen bases.
Brady Daugherty was strong on the mound for Coffee County. He pitched 4 innings, allowing 6 hits and only 1 run and striking out 6 Wolverine batters. Beau Murray finished off Lavergne by striking out 2 in the fifth inning.
Coffee County (2-2) will be back on the diamond on Thursday as they travel to Murfreesboro once again to take on Middle Tennessee Christian at 7 PM.
