Friday night, the Coffee County Lady Raiders hosted Independence in the quarterfinals of the Region 5 Class 4-A basketball tournament. The Lady Raiders soared past the Lady Eagles, 69-43.
Coffee County’s offense had eight players get in the scoring column, led by a dominating performance by Channah Gannon’s inside game. The 6’4″ junior scored 24 points to lead all scorers and was named the Dr Jay Trussler/Rooster 101.5 Player of the Game.
The Lady Raiders only trailed in the game’s opening moments but cruised for the remainder of the contest. The win moves Coffee County into the semifinal matchup, where they will face Shelbyville on Monday at 6 PM at Centennial High School in Franklin. The Eaglettes upset Page on Friday.
Other players scoring for the Lady Raiders against Independence were Olivia Vinson with 12 points, Jules Ferrell 10, Natalie Barnes 8, Jaydee Nogodula and Audri Patton 5 points each, Ella Arnold 3, and Morgen Spears 2 points.
